Welcome to SCAPA Bluegrass 

2010-2011 Dance Year!

Quarter #1

We begin our dance year with technique classes which incorporate "Floor Barre" and "Pilates" into our weekly technique schedule. These techniques give students  concepts of strengths and awareness of areas on which to focus to strengthen.

Technical Focus 

Ballet Class and Floor Barre

First Semester ~  Academic Focus 

 Unit of Study in Dance History..with emphasis on Ballet History and  famous modern dancers' influence on ballet. These dancers brought about new style ballet...contemporary ballet!

1.Look over the "History of Ballet" links....pick two to read that relate to different concepts.

2.Look quickly at websites for classical and modern famous dancers in history...pick two dancers from each...make notes as to for what they are famous.                                        

3.Enjoy last items "Alvin Ailey Videos". Look over some for your enjoyment!

When we go to the Computer Lab I have you divided into mixed groups (6th,7th,8th Grade) with specific sites to "peruse."
