What is the "Teacher's iSchool Development Community?"...
...and why should I care? It's you! Through the TIDC, teachers who are using iSchool in their instruction come together to share resources, ideas, and support. This community will be as exciting, supportive, and rich as its members make it!
Some of the available activities and resources available include...
- iSchool Workshop Support. We'll be using this community as a launch-pad for workshops in the summer, and throughout the year. You'll find previous workshop agendas and topics. You're welcome to use them for your own school and purposes!
- Course and Unit Development. Throughout the school year we'll be supporting and encouraging the development of units and lessons deliverable through iSchool. We want this to be an ongoing activity. None of us can do nearly as much in iSchool as all of us, working together! Watch for big changes and additions in this category in the fall of 2009.
- Resource Sharing. There are lots of iSchool activities supporting this pursuit.
- The Swap Meets - these face-to-face meetings are when we share what we're doing, and discuss effective practices and use. Meetings are every other month, and locations/dates vary. You must be a member to attend and get notices!
Where can you get resources? "glossary" - this searchable list of resources, documents, websites, media, and other learning objects is available to all members, and all members can contribute! Add yours!
Tech Hints Wiki - this wiki is where you can find "how-to's" and technical tricks. Add yours!
Units and Activities "glossary" - this is an ever-expanding collection of activities and units, which you can instantly include in your course.
- Community Building: With general social discussion areas and other specific discussions such as iSchool capability requests, and events scheduled throughout the year, we'll help you get to know and support each other as teachers.
...and lots more things coming! To join, contact Jeffrey L. Jones.
